Community Health Nursing

The main focus of the community health nurse is on Perinatal and Immunization
Services along with Communicable Disease Control. This involves education and
programs regarding healthier lifestyles, Maternal/Child Health, Prenatal, High Risk
Infants, School Health, Safety, Injury Prevention, HIV/Aids Awareness, Elders,
Chronic Disease, General Treatment Clinics and Emergency/After Hours Service.
Thecommunity health nurse works closely with the children in our community througheducational sessions, immunizations, prenatal, and teen health programs.

Community Health Nursing has help with prevention/wellness programs and prenatal. A part time Wellness Nurse works alongside the community health nurse in prevention and wellness projects. One such project is the annual ‘Women’s Festival’, which hosts many speakers on different women’s issues. A pregnancy outreach worker also works in conjunction with the community health nurse to offer prenatal/postnatal care to families.
